Hazel Vera Tan is a mental health nurse, educator, and advocate for global nurse empowerment. She serves as a Professional Nurse Educator and Deputy Ward Manager at Priory Hospital North London, and a Senior Lecturer at Colegio de San Juan de Letran–Calamba School of Nursing in the Philippines. She is the Co-Chair of the Nursing Now Challenge Challengers’ Committee for the Western Pacific Region, where she champions the voices of early-career and student nurses across the globe.
Hazel previously served as Chairperson of the Publications Committee of the Philippine Nurses Association, contributing to nationwide initiatives that strengthened nursing visibility and storytelling. She is also a trained Health Action Training facilitator, where drama meets nursing in championing person-centered care.
Across clinical, academic, and advocacy platforms, Hazel champions the development of confident, empowered, and collaborative nurses who can lead change. Her work bridges the UK and the Philippines, advancing a global vision of a connected, compassionate nursing workforce equipped to influence systems and inspire communities.
