Dr Cate Wood
Deputy CEO and Director of Nursing (Leadership)
Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing
Dr Cate Wood leads and facilitates a portfolio of leadership programmes for the QICN and is also the Deputy CEO. She is an experienced nurse, educator, and writer with expertise in clinical (community and specialist), leadership, project management, and academic and innovative educational roles. She strives to develop behaviours and strategies fundamental to the leadership and delivery of high-quality, safe, compassionate health and social care. Positivity, compassion, kindness, respect, dignity, engagement, and high-quality care are essential to encouraging this culture. A personal leadership ethos supports her approach to awakening and harnessing three leadership truths: reflection rejuvenates, people matter more than things, and relationships are key. She writes and edits on leadership and management in contemporary society. Her educational interests include 'social learning spaces' for developing 'communities of practice' through joint learning and co-creating, resulting in lasting personal and professional friendships.
She co-edited a leadership book: Leading and Managing in Contemporary Health and Social Care by Elizabeth Rosser and Cate Wood, which supports the development of all health and social care professionals as managers and leaders in today’s rapidly evolving environment. https://www.uk.elsevierhealth.com/leading-and-managing-in-contemporary-health-and-social-care-9780702083112.html
