Shamilah Nabyangwa is a Southwark Physical Health Specialist Nurse and newly qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, following completion of her ANP training with the University of Greenwich. Her professional focus includes clinical innovation, service redesign and inter-organisational collaboration to strengthen physical health outcomes for mental health inpatients. She leads the Trust’s PoC-Cr renal screening project, applying change-management methodology, mixed-methods evaluation and ANP-aligned educational frameworks to improve early CKD detection. Her teaching programmes embed experiential learning, clinical-risk awareness and Trust-wide capability development. In 2025, she was shortlisted for the Nursing Times Workforce Awards and named a finalist in the Nursing Times Awards (Mental Health category). She has recently authored an opinion piece on physical health inequalities in inpatient services
