As far back as she can remember, Ellie has always been a mentor, trainer and teacher; from supporting younger students whilst at school, to looking for new and innovative ways to help clinical workers to reach their potential. A natural born educator, Ellie finds herself asking, “How else can I help others to reach their potential?”
Ellie started her career as an intensive care nurse, moving on to becoming a practice development sister in Blackpool. She developed a preceptorship programme and was identified as a “Change Maker” by the RCN eventually working her way up to Career Transformation, Engagement and Development Manager. In January 2020, just before lock down Ellie made the move to The Christie School of Oncology. Her role as Associate Director of Education focusses on the education of The Christie workforce as well as widening participation, work experience and community outreach giving Ellie plenty of opportunity to help others develop. Overseeing the Clinical Education team keeps her close to her nursing roots and ensures that the clinical workforce benefit from her training and experience.
Outside of her role, Ellie is a member of the Education Advisory Board for the Gustave Roussy in Paris and the RCN Nursing and Management Forum steering committee. She is also Primary School Governor, a keen singer, open water swimmer, AmDram actor and mother of two. Steered by her faith, Ellie proactively looks for ways to make a wider impact in the community through widening participation efforts and inclusive practice, actively looking for ways to make a positive change as widely as possible.
You can find Ellie performing for Young Lives Against Cancer at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, in December.
