Prabin Edayanattu Baby
Lister Hospital, Stevenage, East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust

"Since arriving in the UK in August 2020, Prabin's journey has been nothing short of remarkable. She began her career in the Acute Medical Unit at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, quickly gaining recognition and earning the Fellowship of the International Nursing Association Diaspora from the Florence Nightingale Foundation. In addition, she became a Chief Nurse Junior Fellow. Prabin is a dedicated advocate for internationally educated nurses, providing crucial support across the UK. She also secured a small grant from FNF and NHS England for a project she submitted on behalf of her association, for developing an app to support nurses. Currently, Prabin serves as BAME Co-chair and Patient Experience Nurse, where she continues to lead and inspire. In July 2024, she was honoured with the ENHT Staff Award in the Thriving People category for her exceptional work and dedication. In just four years, she has achieved remarkable success and made a significant impact."

Lindy Garrucho
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton

"Arriving in England in 2018, Lindy reflects on her journey within the NHS. Initially fearful of losing herself in the vast healthcare system, a supportive chat with a senior clinical educator became a turning point. Now a Senior Clinical Educator herself, she has supported and continues to support more than 800 overseas nurses through integration, pastoral and career development support. Her roles extend to mentoring, mental health advocacy, and career development programmes. Passionate about creating an inclusive environment, she aims for nurses to thrive, ensuring that future experiences mirror the positive support she received. She believes this can also begin with a conversation."

Asha Mathew
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust

"Asha begun her career at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust (BHT) on 28 October 2010. Asha has been instrumental in the development of the Haematology ambulatory care service which aims to provide support to the admission avoidance pathway. Asha collaborated with the People Directorate, supporting the recruitment of nurses from her home region or Kerala in India. This includes welcoming individuals when they arrive, as if they are her own family. This has ensured that new recruits integrate into the organisation seamlessly. We are proud to have Asha as part of the senior cancer nursing team, her dedication and support/ mentorship of international nurses is invaluable. Asha has maintained her incredible dedication to nursing and cancer services despite living through a personal tragedy in the loss of her son to cancer. This has empowered her to set-up a charity (Ryan Ninan Children’s Charity) in her son's name with the purpose of supporting children with cancer in UK."

His passion and talent were obvious and he soon progressed and has now become an orthopaedic CNS. He has throughout championed the plight of displaced nurses and shared his story, promoted the opportunity healthcare can play in restarting the lives of talented nurses that through no fault of their own find themselves in the same position as Ahmad He is an inspiration."
