NSSEP and SNEP by the 'Dream Team' Practice Development Team
"The Dream Team, led by Chido Muchaneta, tackled two critical issues in nursing: integrating new nurses into the UK healthcare system and enhancing leadership among senior staff. Through NSSEP and SNEP, we provided a comprehensive training programme to address these issues. Challenges included aligning with NHS schedules and initial skepticism. However, both programmes saw significant success, with improved clinical competence, reduced errors, and enhanced leadership skills. Our innovative approach addresses vital gaps in nursing education, ensuring a competent and confident nursing workforce, ultimately leading to better patient care and service effectiveness."

Healthcare Support Worker Development Team - Icare Framework
"The Healthcare Support Worker (HCSWDT) Development Team was created to support the development and retention of HCSW, whilst increasing their confidence and competence. A framework was developed for new HCSW combining education, wellbeing and pastoral support, incorporating the five areas of Health Education England’s HCSW Roadmap. We then introduced development sessions for existing staff. We faced challenges from management in releasing staff and HCSW feeling undervalued and therefore uninspired to engage, so we spent time raising the profile of the HCSW workforce to increase motivation. Our team is now embedded within the organisation and our Framework used in other Trusts."

Supporting our DBTH Workforce to Stay and Thrive
"To provide a collaborative working approach to support our workforce to stay and thrive in the organisation. The focus is to reduce attrition, with heightened focus on the first two years of careers, both registered and non registered colleagues. Through a collaborative approach we developed a combined stay and thrive faculty that supports our workforce. Support for colleagues was initially offered by multiple teams in isolation, and began with preceptorship support focused on newly qualified and internationally recruited colleagues, this expanded and the faculty consists of Preceptorship Team, Education Team, Workforce Team, Professional Nurse/Midwifery Team, Recruitment Team and Clinical Teams."

T Level in Health & Social Care industry placement initiative
"As the 5th largest Trust in England, East Kent Hospitals University Foundation University NHS Trust (EKHUFT) is a major employer in East Kent. The recruitment of nursing, midwifery, and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) presents challenges, especially due to the Trust's location in coastal communities. To address this, EKHUFT has implemented a strategy to develop a pipeline of T Level Health & Social Care students starting in January 2023. Partnering with East Kent College Canterbury has been crucial in this initiative. Despite initial obstacles, two cohorts have been successfully completed, with several students progressing to careers in healthcare."

Improving recruitment and retention of the nursing workforce
"The NMAHP Education and Workforce team work collaboratively in order to provide a high-quality service to all colleagues across nursing, midwifery and allied health professional sectors ensuring they are supported with all aspects of training and development and workforce needs. Recruitment and Retention has been a key focus at a time when there has been a workforce crisis and we have managed to significantly improve vacancies rates through investing in local and international recruitment, supporting existing staff to progress and retain essential skills and by this the nursing team has transformed lives as well as improving outcomes for patients."

Inclusive and multi professional Study process
"This project is a challenge to the long established, traditional methodology of managing the organisations Learning Needs Analysis and subsequent commissioning of training for specific professional groups, which created silo events and an uncoordinated approach to workforce development. The Christie team have totally changed the norm, by housing the Learning and Development for all staff under one umbrella. There are no separate teams managing Medics or specific professionals, no othering, but rather a fully inclusive, all encompassing approach. There is a newly devised policy and governance to underpin this, and it has changed culture and produced significant results."

Health Care Support Work Digital and Community (Bus) attraction campaign.
"An innovative, creative, effective, collaborative and sustainable system wide approach to HCSW recruitment through digital and social media solutions to attract our diverse population and enrich our workforce delivering safe, quality care to our patients and residents. The initiative demonstrates how system collaborative working can create innovation and solutions, resulting in successful outcomes. Our aim was to significantly reduce our HCSW vacancies by attracting and showcasing to our local communities the variety of HCSW roles available within Health, Social and Primary Care. We wanted to deliver an initiative which would be original, effective and sustainable, with future longevity and replication."
