Alex Matheson is the Director of Inclusion for LGBT Foundation, a National Health & Wellbeing charity for LGBTQ+ people, her remit covers Pride in Practice (an LGBTQ+ inclusion scheme for health & social care), training, older age adults and all aspects of policy, research and insight. She originally started at LGBT Foundation as the NHS Rainbow Badges Programme Manager, where she was responsible for the creation and roll out of Phase II. This took the NHS Rainbow Badge from a purely visual symbol to a detailed assessment of LGBT+ inclusion throughout NHS Trusts. Her most recent work involved setting up the Trans Waiting Well Service pilot in the South West, a service designed to reduce the detrimental impact of long waiting lists for access to gender affirming care. Alex has a background in community healthcare and complaints management and is a member of the LGBT+ community. She is passionate about creating opportunities to make meaningful change in the healthcare experiences of LGBT+ people, not only for patients but also for members of staff.
