36 years a nurse, Clare has spent most of her career in healthcare quality improvement, policy and enabling transformational leadership. She honed her own leadership skills in a range of senior roles with the RCN and then as Chief Executive and Nurse Director of the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland. She is the co-author of ‘Flourish: Thriving as nurses against the odds: a practical and emotional guide’. Clare is currently the Chief Executive of the Burdett Trust for Nursing, where her vision is to enable nurses to shape a healthier, kinder, fairer society. She is an Honorary Professor at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh and Visiting Professor at University of the Highlands and Islands.
