Mitchell Diodina Fernandez is a senior nurse leader with over 30 years’ experience across acute, community, and private healthcare settings. An internationally educated nurse, he holds a BSc in Nursing, a BSc (Hons) in Health Promotion and Health Protection, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health. He is a Florence Nightingale Foundation Aspiring Director of Nursing scholar. Mitchell joined the NHS in 2002, progressing from healthcare assistant to senior leadership roles including Assistant Chief Nurse, Chief Nursing Information Officer, and Deputy Chief Nurse across multiple organisations and integrated care systems. He has led the development of an AI‑enabled patient experience improvement tool to support frontline teams, release clinical time, and drive targeted quality improvement. A committed advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion, Mitchell works nationally to improve the experience, progression, and retention of internationally educated nurses.
