Karen Bonner is a highly respected nursing leader with extensive experience across major NHS organisations in London. She served as Chief Nurse and Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2024), leading critical improvements in patient safety. Karen holds a BSc (Hons) in Nursing, an MSc in Advanced Practice Leadership from King’s College London, and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of New Buckinghamshire (2025). A passionate advocate for equality, she contributed to the NHS Workforce Race Equality Standard advisory group and helped establish the Mary Seacole Trust. Recognised among the top ethnic minority leaders in health (2021–2025) and named one of 75 nurses who shaped the NHS (Nursing Times, 2023), Karen received an MBE in 2024 and is a Fellow of the Queen’s Nursing Institute. She also serves as a trustee for Prostate Cancer UK and Helpforce, and was honoured as a Burdett Hero (2022) and listed among the 50 Kindness in Leadership leaders (2025).
